Athletics

In keeping with our commitment to be an inclusive school, Pacific Hills maintains a ‘no-cut’ policy in which every student is encouraged to become a member of a team, regardless of prior experience. In fact, a great many of our students participate on one or more athletic team(s). While athletics require a solid commitment of time and effort, students gain the positive benefits fostered by team sports, including cooperation, team spirit, friendly competition, and good sportsmanship.

Track & Field

Our school fields championship high school athletic teams in boys and girls basketball and volleyball, co-ed soccer, baseball, softball, cheerleading, track, cross country and more. Our athletes have won several recent California Interscholastic Federation championships, most notably in basketball, including trips to the state championship for both boys and girls teams. Many graduates have been awarded athletic scholarships, including into the Ivy League.

Middle school sports feature flag-football, girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, baseball, fencing and track.

Intramural sports are offered at the middle school and high school level, based on student interest and include fencing, tennis and golf.

11TH GRADERS WIN COUNTY VOLUNTEER AWARD

---------------------------------------------

Congratulations to Juniors Kate Rosen and Michael Mulay for co-winning the 2010 L.A. County Arts Commission Student Volunteer of the Year Award. Together, Michael and Kate volunteered for upwards of 70 events, logging over 300 hours in four short months during the Ford Ampitheatre's summer season. "Their seamless integration into the Ford staff proved to be a considerable value to the Arts Commission and to the County," states Bill Berry, Events Service Manager at the Ford. "Michael and Kate also showed their leadership by working with each new volunteer throughout the season...Michael and Kate brought a veritable "youthquake" to the Ford volunteer staff." The pair were honored at a luncheon awards ceremony at the Grand Hall of Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on April 12th.
