Admissions decisions at Pacific Hills School are made without regard to financial need and the admissions committee seeks to ensure that qualified candidates are not denied admission solely on the basis of financial limitations.

Tuition assistance is awarded, subject to the availability of funds, using the following criteria:

• Financial need
• Past and future academic promise
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to and benefit from the school’s program

Such awards are applied solely to tuition reduction and do not cover other costs or fees. Financial aid forms may be requested at the time of application; all information will be kept confidential.

Who may apply for financial aid?

Anyone may apply for financial aid. Financial aid is based solely on a family’s demonstrated financial need, which is the difference between what the family can afford for education and the cost of the school. Applying for aid, however, does not guarantee that aid will be offered.

How is “demonstrated need” determined?

Need is determined by Pacific Hills School’s Financial Aid Committee, which uses tax returns, confidential statements and an outside agency as a tool to help in the decision making process.

How and when do I apply for financial aid?

Applicants may receive a financial aid application packet as part of their enrollment application materials. Pacific Hills School’s financial aid application process includes completing and submitting an outside evaluation company’s packet and providing a copy of the family’s two most recent yearly IRS filings. There are no financial aid deadlines.

Will applying for financial aid affect my child’s chances for admission?

No, it is important to note that applying for financial aid has no bearing upon the admission committee’s assessment and decision. Determinations regarding admission to the school and eligibility for financial aid are made independently of one another.

Does our family have to repay the financial award?

No. Financial aid is an outright award used to offset the cost of tuition and fees at Pacific Hills School.

How confidential is the financial aid application process?

All applications for financial aid are held in strict confidence. Only the Business Manager and the Financial Aid Committee have access to the records.

How will our family be notified of our financial aid award?

Upon acceptance to Pacific Hills School, the family will receive an enrollment contract stating tuition and fees due, financial aid awarded, if any, and the conditions of the payment plan.
